Well, Birth of a Nation isn't just a portrayal of a bad moment in history, but it also has a lot of relevance in film history. I'm more excited for what will hopefully be some in-depth extras into the controversy surrounding the film, its historical importance and how it is looked upon now. Of course, no extras have been announced yet I don't think, but this being a Masters of Cinema release, it should include some very good ones judging from their track record.

Heh, the movie was shot in 1915 so definitely not my thing. I watched a few prehistoric movies once though. I don't dig how people still watch them these days... But I guess like everything esle it's a matter of taste.

Never seen Birth Of A Nation but I like Nosferatu (1922) a great deal.

I watched it only a few yrs ago and laughed my butt off! Simply hilarious! So NOT scary and silly, damn.

Fair enough but I can imagine at the time it creeped out cinema audiences who had not been subjected to the likes of The Exorcist & Hostel.You're looking at it from a modern perspective it's bound to have lost a great deal of impact now.

Both Hostel and The Exorcist are very poor. Neither scary, well written, acted or directed. Dull and senseless overall.
Atleast Hostel has a few fair moments but the latter none at all.

Actually it's more then that. I rarely watch/buy movies older then 35 yrs.

I love the older movies,the Universal Horrors of the 1930s & 1940s & the classic sci-fi movies of the 50s.I hate a lot of stuff made in the last few years which is over reliant on CGI work.I thought Avatar was hugely overrated & the original version of Clash Of The Titans was far superior to the remake despite the reviews of critics at the time it was released.

Yap, cheap CGI ruins everything. It's so fake and obvious in the most movies these days.

I don't consider Avatar as a movie at all. Atleast a decent one. Cameron has lost the control of his big boat and crashed. No survivors on the horizon...

I'll probably buy it idc, but I'm not excited. I bought - and watched - the Eureka DVD release in 2003. I don't think I was excited then, either.

Ah, a man after my own sad, sorry, hoarding heart... I reckon at my current rate of watching a film or two per week, to get through them all I only need to live to be around 200 - and still I buy!

I'd say if you haven't seen it yet, then don't. Have a butcher's at this article and treat yourself to the latest BFI restoration. The difference between the two is truly astounding. Its price is currently quite high, but a couple of months back it was selling around the £6 mark, so I'm sure it'll drop again.
