Yeti: Giant of the 20th Century (First viewing; YouTube) – 3/10
As a child, I used to be awed when seeing giant monsters on TV or at the cinema. I remembered passing by a local cinema and seeing the theatrical poster of
Yeti but never got a chance to see it.
This awfully crappy 1977 Italian production assaults you not only on your sight but also your hearing. Be prepared to hear a funky disco song ‘
The Yeti’ sung by the so-called
The Yetians that is played about halfway through the film:
“The Yeti’s big!
The Yeti’s tall!
But he’s so good
He is so big!
The man of snow!
But he won’t harm you
The Yeti
He is so tall!
The man of snow!
But he won’t kill you
The Yeti”Imagine singing the song with those lyrics
Not on DVD, but I don't mind adding it to my collection.
The House of Seven Corpses (YouTube; First viewing) – 3/10
A group of low budget filmmakers is filming a horror film in a haunted old house where grisly occult-related murders were committed. Unwary of the fateful curse that may befall them, the cast re-enact a devil-worshipping ritual that took place in the house as part of their film script, thus unintentionally resurrecting a lumbering blood-thirsty zombie from the house cemetery!
This is one of the worst horror films of the 70’s I have ever watched. The horror builds at a snail’s pace with nothing much interesting going on during the first hour except occasional false scares. What is even worse is that the payoff and ending, which should have at least made up for the dull 60 minutes, will still leave you scratching your heads.
John Ireland and John Carradine star.
