X2 (French Blu)
One step above the first episode, with better story (first movie was "just a big introduction") and action scenes (the opening with nightcrawler!) - 8/10

Under the Skin (Theater)
Really great: very slow movie, few dialogues, only a few special effects, it reminded me some Kubrick films - 8/10

The Conjuring (French Blu)
Good haunted house/possession movie, quite frightnening and well directed by one of most promising new horror-movie directors - 7/10

L'autre Vie de Richard Kemp (TV)
Good crime/time-travel movie, really enjoyed it! 7/10

Dark Skies (TV)
Alien-abduction movie, this also reminds Paranormal Activity. But this was a pretty good surprise, never boring even though most of what happens has already been seen elsewhere - 6/10

THE LAST BLOOD (First viewing, German dvd) - 6.5/10

If you have ever watched Antonio Margarethi's films, you know what to expect. This is First Blood set during the Vietnam War. Even the title says it all. Produced in 1983, this First Blood rip-off is actually quite good if you are into thrashy Vietnam War films of the 80s.. Italians do it better, they say. Not with this one, though.

Alice ou la Dernière Fugue (French DVD)
Tough to watch a non-anamorphic DVD these days, but AFAIK this is the only edition of this French movie directed by Claude Chabrol, and this is more than "watchable".
Really good, kind of a mix between Lewis Caroll and Carnival of Souls. One of the too few fantastic movies that came out of French cinema - 7/10

Flight (French Blu)
Not bad, but pretty dull at the end of the day. Good performance by Denzel Washington though - 6/10

MANIAC COP (First viewing, UK blu-ray) - 6.5/10

I didn't want to get this initially but MANIAC COP 2, which I thought was better and more fun, has been released recently on blu-ray. So I bought both. Being a collector, it's not nice to have only the sequels of a film in your collection.

The main attraction of MANIAC COP is watching Matt Cordell in action. With his hulking physique and menacing facial features (Look at his jaw!), Robert Z'dar makes a creepily terrifying villain.

X-Men 3 (French Blu)
The "death" of everything the first two movie standed for... it has also good moments, but is far from the second movie. Too many things happen at once, with probably too many characters - 6/10

Oldboy (Spike Lee remake) - nowhere near as incredible as the original Korean film, some wonderful cinematography but I thought all the performances were not particularly great, never cared for Josh Brolin's character and Sharlto Copley was way too over the top, he seemed like a cartoon villain instead of someone truly diabolical. 4/10.
Samir: You know there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There was nothing wrong with it... until I was about 12 years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys. (Office Space)

THE TAILOR OF PANAMA (First viewing, US blu-ray) - 7/10

One of Pierce Brosnan and Geoffrey Rush's best films. A combination of spy thriller and satirical comedy which has quite a complicated plot. No action, no shootouts, just dialogues. But both Brosnan and Rush deliver the goods.

True Detective: Season One (French Blu)
Finished this show yesterday evening. Wow, amazing performance by all actors, and especially by Matthew McConaughey, great scenario, even if maybe a bit too slow (as with several other HBO series: GoT, Boardwalk... and most of all: Deadwood!), rich and dense universe with many details (really worth rewatching in a while). One "strange" episode caught up in the middle (and maybe pacing issues, or it's just me) makes it imperfect, but this is still a wonderful TV experience - 9/10
