Whenever a film needs the help of a US army for locations, technology etc they always veto the script. this has been going on for a long time.
Back in 1986, the Pentagon got very annoyed with Clint Eastwood over Heartbreak Ridge for the scene in which Clint kills a wounded Cuban soldier. They said no such event ever happened and wanted it taken out. Clint refused and the Pentagon withdrew support for the film.
