The fine film should have its own DVD comparison page now there two versions available. They're both, of course, to be found with the already-listed BD and DVD of the 1944 remake.
It should be noted that the UK BD easily wins, as the print on the US disc is badly scratched and battered; probably the worst I've ever seen on a non-PD DVD. It was the only surviving US print after all others were ordered destroyed. The restored print on the UK BD/DVD is pristine as it's taken from a different copy the director secretly had made.
