The sleeve and the disc startup both state that Partner Entertainment is a trademark of BBC Worldwide Ltd and that BBC Worldwide Ltd holds the copyright (dated 2003). BBC Worldwide Ltd obtained the BBFC certificate in 2003. I think the Amazon page is wrong in saying the releasing studio is 2 Entertain Video, there is no mention of 2 Entertain Video anywhere.
What appears to be the original version is on yt in poor quality. Basically in the US version/DVD version the last scene has been removed and the Lionel Barrymore narration added. I would say the removal of the last scene makes the film bleaker not happier as the comparison suggests, but I guess that's a matter of opinion.
