Led Zeppelin

Post by Brent_Reid »

The NTSC and PAL timings for their eponymous first DVD are identical. If accurate, which standard is their master in? One or the other is transferred unconverted. If it helps any, their Song Remains the Same BD also features the same Madison Square Garden tracks which, being shot on film, will have the correct running speed.

It's probably a bit of both. Most of the live footage is from film, but some of it is sourced from video tapes that were made for UK/European broadcast. So it's likely that both versions have some sort of field-interpolation applied to keep everything at a consistent speed.

Thanks for replying, Alister. I'd already surmised the same as you, but hoped someone who knew for a fact or had both releases might weigh in. I have the DVD and will pick up the BD at some point. Unless someone beats me to it, I'll post again when I've figured out more. :)
