The Film
 In this punishing action thriller starring Ruby Rose (John Wick: Chapter 2), a former Marine turned doorman at a luxury New York City high-rise must outsmart and battle a group of art thieves and their ruthless leader (Jean Reno, Leon: The Professional) - while struggling to protect her sister's family. As the thieves become increasingly desperate and violent, the doorman calls upon her deadly fighting skills to end the showdown.

Colourful, female-led, eventful slice of thick ear offers nothing new but will be a fun view on a Friday night with some pals over and plenty of beer and pizza. In some respects it reminded me of a less pretentious Panic Room (2002). Shot digitally using Arri Alexa Mini Cooke Anamorphic /i Lenses (thanks IMDB) this is a vivid looking, mostly colourful production that visually at least os a throwback to such films in the '90s or earlier; check out the fire engines at 57:21 and the subsequent red lit scenes. Flesh tones are warm and natural, black levels satisfyingly deep with decent shadow detail (for DVD, mind) no crush and the contrast is mostly lowkey, occasionally punchy in well lit daylight scenes. Detail is reasonable for the format, encoding is good and I saw no signs of tinkering or artefacts. The film has been afforded a DVD9 which is dual layered and allows the transfer to breathe which helps. As good as we can get given that this is a DVD and not a BD. PAL / MPEG-2 / 2.4:1 / 93:13
Audio
English Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English HoH A punchy actionful sound field with some welly with the subwoofer kicking it during explosions satisfyingly. It'll never compete with big budget blockbusters but does get the job done. Rhee's plenty of surround activity and ambiance and the score never interferes with the dialogue. Subtitles for the hearing impaired are present and welcome for those who need them.

Overall
Decent standard definition presentation from Signature Entertainment in the UK of this watchable slice of action thick ear. Casual purchasers will be satisfied but the more discerning will elect to import a BD release.
