Color tinted according to one of the color plans followed in the film's different releases during the silent era.
Some scenes display a translucent line near the top of the frame. This is a defect carried over from the original film copy and its inclusion seemed greatly preferable to cropping out part of the picture; it is not a defect in this DVD.
A new orchestral string musical score, by Timothy Brock, was inspired by German avant garde music from the early 20th century.
English intertitles designed in the style of the overtly Expressionist German titles that accompanied the first release of the film.
All surviving footage has been included in this edition. -

Similar intertitles to the Image disc, but the Kino one's scroll in accordance with the original film.
Translucent line from the Image disc is not present and more frame is visible overall. There are a few scenes with substantial cropping not on the Image disc, however overall viewing is better on Kino.
Unlike the Image disc, this isn't windowboxed, and so much of the added screen information will be lost on sets with overscan.
This Kino on Video edition is taken from a 35mm print restored by the Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv of Germany, featuring the original color tinting (though this is different to the Image release) and toning. The title translation is by Kinograph Montréal.
Appears also in "German Horror Classics" 4-disc set, with Nosferatu (1922) / Waxworks (1924) / The Golem (1920).
Also available as part of the "German Expressionism" set with "The Hands of Orlac", "Secrets of a Soul" and "Warning Shadows". -
