The US/Canada "Ingmar Bergman's Cinema" release has lengthy exclusive extras.
The identical French and German releases have an exclusive ~91 min featurette but do note neither is English friendly and the featurette is in SD/576i when Criterion's extras are mostly in HD. Note the German boxsets have additional films and extras.
The UK "Ingmar Bergman Volume 2" and the 4K+Blu-ray set port the extras from the UK Tartan release and adds an exclusive commentary. The standalone release also includes the 4K UHD Blu-ray, while the Volume 2 boxset has additional films and extras.
Rewind user Ludovic_Laroche has reported the following comparative details for French vs. US Criterion (standalone):
- A bit too much DNR has been applied to the French disc's transfer when Criterion's transfer however is quite grainy.
- Still, both seem to have used the same master as same scratches and imperfections (caused by print damages) appear in both transfers.
The US "Ingmar Bergman's Cinema" box, UK "Ingmar Bergman Volume 2" set, and UK 4K+Blu-ray set feature a 4K remastered transfer.
