The following versions of the movie are known:
- The original 'NC-17' version (~158min),
- The 'R-rated' version in which sex scenes have been trimmed (~158min),
- The heavily censored Chinese version (~147min) in which:
*One sex scene has been completely removed.
*The other sex scenes have been edited down to little more than shots of the actors' facial expressions.
*All nudity has been removed.
*A brutally violent scene of a man being killed has been abbreviated: the man is seen being stabbed in the stomach, and the rest of the scene is cut.
*A scene of sexual molestation within a car has been completely cut.
