OVERALL: Draw
The R1 release contains the longer version of the film, Cassavetes' original edit (running 142 mins), along with some very good contextual material; the R2 release contains the shorter re-edit of the film. Cassavetes completists will want to own both releases.
A French release was available; this is now OOP and had burned-in French subtitles, but we don't have the full specs for this release--if you have access to the French DVD, please let us know the details via our forums.
Cassavetes' original edit of the film ran for just over two and a half hours; this version of the film was later replaced with a shorter edit, running 132 minutes. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Columbia Pictures - No cuts - 142 min version
- R2 Germany- Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment - No cuts - shorter cut (125 mins - PAL)
