- R1 America- Columbia Tristar Home Entertainment - No cuts - Original version including episodes recaps (378:24 NTSC).

R1 Recut America- Sony Pictures Home Entertainment - Yes - re-edited version in two parts (295:28 NTSC).
The following sequences are blatantly missing:
- John Geyser's encounter with a prostitute at the Charlestown Inn (3:00).
- The subsequent visit by John Geyser to the Abolitionist John Brown in his prison cell where he sketches the condemned man (2:00).
- The Duel between John Geyser & a cowardly Prussian officer (5:00).
- A scene set in "Mississipi 1863" where John Geyser prevents the rape of a young black slave at the hands of some Union deserters. His following encounter with the girl's family & a black preacher (Julius Harris) is also missing, where he informs them Lincoln will free all the Southern slaves within months (7:02). The removal of this footage makes Jonathan Henry (Paul Winfield) and the Geyser's housemaid the only prominent black characters in the re-edited version.
- The "Wilderness Campaign 1864" sequence loses the river-crossing scene (1:11). - R2 Germany- Pidax Film - No cuts - Original version (358:07 PAL).
