OVERALL: Draw
The MGM Special Edition releases, French & UK "Up to 11 Edition" releases, and French Édition Collector release are all anamorphic, with 5.1 audio, and differing exclusive extras.
The US Criterion release has its own exclusive extras though it is non-anamorphic with 2.0 surround audio only.
Note the UK BMG release has uncompressed LPCM 2.0 audio, but is non-anamorphic and has no extras.
Notes:
The Criterion release features an audio commentary with co-writers/actors Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer as themselves.
Other releases features a different audio commentary with the same three participants, but in-character as the members of Spinal Tap.
The Criterion release features a different set of deleted scenes than the MGM/Optimum/Studio Canal releases. While there are some overlapping scenes, both sets of deleted scenes have exclusive footage. It is currently unclear whether the French Édition Collector has the Criterion deleted scenes or not.
Some releases include The Return of Spinal Tap 1992 mockumentary but they are missing half of the feature, which should run approximately 110 minutes. The complete mockumentary has been released on its own. -
