OVERALL: Draw
The French, US and UK releases for including two versions of the film with some differing exclusive extras. Note the French release has 2.0 surround and 5.1 cantonese tracks while the US/UK have the original mono.
Also note the Hong Kong release has a 7.1 upmix Cantonese track, but lacks the original mono, has only one version of the film and has fewer extras.
General Note:
There are 3 versions of this film:
- The original Hong Kong version (98 minutes)
- A Chinese Version
- The International version (97 minutes) titled “Zu: Time Warrior” with nearly 35 minutes of wraparound footage at the expense of an equal amount of footage, parts of the plot changed in the dialogue, and the removal of the opening battle sequence which also features a second role for Sammo Hung.
The Chinese and International versions were not approved by director Tsui Hark.
