OVERALL: Draw
R3 for the Best audio or the Hong Kong Legends releases for the commentary. Note, both releases feature unique extras so a fan may own both. The French Release also features 2 exclusive interviews with the director.
Do note that the R2 release reportedly has an inferior transfer.
GENERAL NOTES:
There are 3 versions of this film:
- The original Hong Kong version (98 minutes)
- A Chinese Version
- The International release (97 minutes) titled “Zu: Time Warrior” with nearly 35 minutes of wraparound footage at the expense of an equal amount of footage, parts of the plot changed in the dialogue, and the removal of the opening battle sequence which also features a second role for Sammo Hung.
The Chinese and International versions were not approved by director Tsui Hark.
