The UK disc has vastly superior extras while the French is open-matte (both utilized the same BBC digital master and Nucleus cropped it to 1.66:1 while Bach has encoded it as pillarboxed fullscreen).
GENERAL NOTES:
There are two versions of the film:
- the original British version starting with the opening logo, title card, and a scene in which the protagonist travels on the Underground to the train station.
- the home video version titled "Madhouse Mansion." The title card is video-generated, but the rest of the title sequence - unfolding on a long shot of the haunted mansion - featuring actor and technical credits are film opticals, and then fading in on the protagonist's arrival at the train station. The end credits are identical to the British version. Although director Stephen Weeks dismisses this version, it was obviously prepared by some entity with access to outtake footage and may have what was offered by the international sales agent even after the rights reverted to Weeks. -
