OVERALL: Draw
The Definitive Gold Box Editions include the complete original series, with two versions of the Pilot episode and many exclusive extras. Note the episodes do not include the "Previously on Twin Peaks" segments.
The R1 Artisan Special Edition has DTS audio and a different set of extras, including audio commentaries, but does not include the Pilot episode. The only way to get it episode on its own, is through the long OOP Taiwan release.
The R2/R3/R4 Special Editions include the original version of the Pilot episode and most of the extras from the R1 Artisan release, but only have Dolby Digital audio and are missing the interviews with James Marshall, Russ Tamblyn, Catherine E. Coulson, Tim Hunter (Easter Egg), and Richard Hoover (Easter Egg). They do include an Easter Egg interview with Harley Peyton not on the R1 release.
Note: The extra features contain spoliers as to who killed Laura Palmer, which isn't revealed until Season 2. -
