OVERALL: Draw
- The Criterion edition has the best extras (exclusive "Jour de fête: In Search of the Lost Color" documentary, Tati shorts as well as other extras on the seventh disc...), has 3 versions of the film, however the 1995 Thomsoncolor version is in SD.
- The Australian Studio Canal release has all the extras from the identical UK and French releases and adds an exclusive bonus disc of extras, has 3 versions of the film, though upscales the 1995 Thomsoncolor version from an SD source.
- The UK BFI edition has both the 1964 version and the 1995 Thomsoncolor version in 1080p, though it does not include the original 1949 version and the 1964 version does not include the original French language track. It also includes the alternate 1964 version on the DVD only.
The following versions of the movie are known:
- The original 1949 black-and-white version (~87min),
- The alternate 1964 black-and-white version, including additional sequences with a new character (a painter), a few colorized shots, and a different soundtrack in which the story is told from the painter's point of view (~82min),
- The 1995 Thomsoncolor version - the film was shot by Tati simultaneously in B&W and the experimental Thomsoncolor but the firm went bankrupt and color prints could not be made by conventional means, so the negatives were not processed until 1995 (~80min). -
