The film they tried to ban! A brutal story of today.Director: Alan Clarke
OVERALL: Draw-
OVERALL: Draw
The UK Powerhouse release many exclusive new extras along with vintage extras, though only has the original mono track.
The UK Odeon release has its own exclusive extras with both the original mono and a 5.1 track.
General notes: The original TV-version was made for the BBC in 1977, but was banned by them and never screened until 15 years later. After "Scum" was essentially buried by the BBC, director Alan Clarke and actor Ray Winstone decided to remake the television version and release it theatrically in 1979. The film follows pretty much the same plot with most of the same characters (many of whom are even played by the same actors). -
