OVERALL: R2
For the OAR, but you might want to avoid the UK release as its cut status is not clear (although it does have the exact same runtime as the German release.)
Note also that the NTSC 4:3 transfer is basically an open-matte — there is a little cropping to the sides but significantly more image at the top and, especially, the bottom. For example, when Julie Warner first surfaces in the lake the widescreen image is cropped just below her shoulders while the 4:3 one extends significantly lower. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Warner Home Video - No cuts (103:15 NTSC).
- R2 Germany- Warner Home Video - No cuts (99:08 PAL).
- R2 United Kingdom- Warner Home Video - Unknown. The BBFC states that the UK cinema version was cut by zero seconds (+substitution?) but gives no further details and there is no info as to whether any "cuts" were subsequently waived for the DVD release (99:08 PAL).
- R4 Australia- Warner Home Video - No cuts (103:18 NTSC).
