Transfer is colour-tinted to the original release specifications (with sepia tones for interiors, a blue wash for nighttime scenes and the infrequent daytime shots in plain black and white). An open image framing (duplicate 35mm copy print, or 16mm reduction print), and this print includes over five minutes worth of footage not present in Kino edition. Suffers from a slightly contrasty and soft picture, and the substandard audio quality of the musical accompaniment.
Slightly windowboxed. -

Notes:There are reports that this may be missing five minutes of footage when compared to the Image release ("Sir George and his relationship with Millicent", "the introduction of Utterson", and "Gina is telling Hyde about her poison ring") from the early parts of the picture.
Kino does provide a little more footage of the music hall sequence and of Naldi's 'dancing' talents.
The framing of the Kino version is a little different, with more head room at the top. However, because the Image disc is windowboxed, the other three sides have minor loss to the frame on the Kino DVD (the images are slightly larger onscreen: more of the top of the image frame, while it reveals slightly less information on the sides and bottom).
Kino version transfer is from a 35mm release print. -

Both of the R1 versions; the Kino has superior image quality but the Image *may* run linger. Difficult to tell as the Image is listed as 79 minutes and the Kino we have specific RT info for (77:38) which run contrary to the notes under the Image disc stating it runs five minutes shorter.
NOTE:
Although we've listed some releases as cut it is entirely possible that the frame-rates for those versions may run faster; and the longer versions slower. -
CUTS:
- R0 America- Image Entertainment - Unknown cut status (79 mins NTSC)
- R0 Finland- Finnkino - Unknown cut status (81:59 PAL)
