OVERALL: R0
Dutch AE has the OAR of 4:3 with the optional audio narration and storyboards (missing from the Scandinavian release). Note that the audio narration is in Dutch.
The UK SE has the audio narration in English, but the aspect ratio is 1.85:1. Both are using the Father Christmas opening.
General notes:
"The Snowman" is wordless like the book, except for the song "Walking in the Air". The original tv presentation included introduction by the writer Raymond Briggs. In a re-released version the alternate introduction was used by David Bowie and in 2002 a new opening sequence was created (Father Christmas character recounts how he met the boy).
About the aspect ratio:
OAR is 4:3, since the film was originally shown on British tv. 1.85:1 version is cropped, but in the DVD releases the 4:3 ratio seems to be also slightly cropped from the sides (compared to the 1.85:1 version). Please see the link HERE (Blu-ray.com forums).
