The US Blue Underground 2-disc release and the French Wild Side Video releases for the differing exclusive extras and including the original Italian language track.
General notes:Blue Underground founder William Lustig says: “All previous transfers of Django had been made from various prints and duplicate negatives. The new Blue Underground transfer was done from the original camera negative, which apparently hadn’t been touched in over 35 years. When we examined it, we also found bits and pieces of scenes that had been lost over the years. Nothing of any major significance, but it is interesting to see these little bits ’n’ bobs that had been missing from previous transfers. On the other hand, because the original negative hadn’t been properly stored, there was some deterioration that couldn’t be 100% repaired even with today’s state-of-the-art digital technology. In fact, the negative was in such disrepair that we had to re-enforce every splice before we could even run it through the telecine. It was a major restoration. We spent more than double the normal time doing frame-by-frame dirt and scratch removal. It’s taken two years to finish, but the result is absolutely the most complete and beautiful version of Django ever seen.”
