OVERALL: Draw
The Scandinavian edition for the anamorphic transfer of 2.35:1, though the film is a shortened version.
The German disc has an anamorphic transfer, very close to the OAR of 2.35:1, and it is not as badly cut as the Scandinavian release, but it is not English-friendly.
Runtime: The original Italian film had a runtime of about 120 min. Most video releases were cut to about 90 min, with the cuts being made seemingly at random, producing an almost incomprehensible result. (Thanks to Micah ofDumb Distraction for this info). The Danish DVD also has a runtime of 90 min, which probably explains the pre-credit transposition reported by Rewind user Phil. We don't have a runtime for the Norwegian DVD, but we suspect it is the same as the Danish release. The German DVD is reported to have a runtime of about 102 min PAL, so it is a more complete version, but still about 14 min PAL shorter than the original Italian film. -
CUTS:
- R0 Denmark- On Air - Yes - (89:26 PAL) original Italian film had runtime of about 120 min.
- R0 Finland-Sweden- Atlantic Film / Future Film - Yes - (89:16 PAL) original Italian film had runtime of about 120 min.
- R0 Norway- SME - Yes - (89:25 PAL) original Italian film had runtime of about 120 min.
- R2 Germany- E-M-S - Yes - shorter International version (101:32 PAL).
- R2 Trinity: Exclusive & Original Boxset Scandinavia- Soul Media - Yes - shortened version (89:15 PAL).
