OVERALL: Draw
R0 US Tokyo Shock has a good set of extras plus two English dubs and R2 Japanese release has a different set of good extras plus a 5.1 track though note, the Japanese release is not English friendly. If that's a problem, then the next best choice is the R4 release which features the 5.1 track plus English subtitles. Also note, the R0 SE release from ADV Films has a bonus CD but is non-anamorphic.
A comparison between the Japanese and American versions can be found here: http://www.dalekempire.com/GodzillaAmerica7.html
This film is also known as:
-Attack of the Marching Monsters
-Gojira dengeki taisakusen
-The March of the Monsters
-Monster Attack March
-Operation Monsterland
Please see the image-comparison from below: -
CUTS:
- R0 America- ADV Films - No cuts. This release has the Toho’s own international English dub (not the same as AIP-version). Apart from the English-dub, this is the full-length Japanese version with its international English title and opening credits (89:07 NTSC).
- R0 America- Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters - No cuts. Original Japanese Version with original Japanese titles and opening credits.
- R0 50th Anniversary Special Edition America- ADV Films - No cuts. This release has the Toho’s own international English dub (not the same as AIP-version). Apart from the English-dub, this is the full-length Japanese version with its international English title and opening credits (89:07 NTSC).
- R0 Australia- Shock/Siren Visual - No cuts. This seems to be the US AIP (American International Television) version. This version is the one originally released in U.S. theaters and syndicated to television. Few minor pieces of the film were removed.
- R1 America- Tokyo Shock/Media Blasters - No cuts. Original Japanese Version with original Japanese titles and opening credits.
- R2 Germany- Cine Plus - No unknown cuts. Probably the same version as R0 US.
- R2 Japan- Toho - No cuts. Original Japanese Version.
- R4 Australia- Madman Entertainment - No cuts. Japanese Version (85:08 PAL). Thanks to visitor Ken Brewer for confirming that this release has the Toho’s own international English dub (not the same as AIP-version).
