OVERALL: R2
The UK release for the most complete version with a proper transfer.
IMDB quote an 88 min TV version, although 94 mins for the film itself, which does not match either of the two possible original UK runtimes. See cuts notes under each release for further details.
There's also an unofficial release by Televista in the US. -
CUTS:
- R0 America- Warner Home Video - Unknown, but looks to be close to the UK version – see below (92 mins NTSC).
- R0 Germany- Filmjuwelen - Shorter, or cut, version. Note that the UK original promotional material quoted a reel length of 7486' = 83:11 25fps = 79:51 25fps so could be an NTSC/PAL transfer of this. The deleted scene may account for the difference, and may be the UK 'cut' material (83:22 PAL).
- R2 United Kingdom- Network - The UK cinema version was cut by the BBFC: "Reels 4B - 5A - Reduce violence of fight between crew and gang, removing low blows, rabbit punches and kicks." However, it is hard to judge nowadays whether what we see on the DVD is pre- or post-cuts. Note that the submitted runtime of 91:53 24fps = 88:12 25fps is close to the present runtime, omitting modern Studio Canal and BFI restoration credits (88:18 PAL).
