The original 2016 release for the uncut version animated in both B&W and Colour and for having the full Andrew Pixley liner notes booklet as a physical copy.
The new 2020 features a revised albeit cut version of the B&W animation and substantial new extras.
This serial exists in multiple versions:
(1.) The Original as broadcast version which now exists only as telesnaps, bits of footage, recreated sequences and the original uncut soundtrack. The original image doesn't exist any longer as the original video tapes were junked in the late '60s and surviving film prints (Returned from Australia) were junked in 1975. The soundtrack was recorded by two fans (David Holman, Graham Strong) on reel-to-reel tape during the original 1966 broadcast (2020 recon 146 minutes / 2016 recon 149 minutes).
(2.) A narrated audio version (by Tom Baker) from 1993 (132 minutes).
(3.) The uncut 2016 animated version that was originally made in B&W but had a colour version commissioned by BBC America for broadcast after it had already been made in B&W (153 minutes).
(4.) The 2020 revised animated version only available in the original B&W which has had some footage cut for pacing reasons (151 minutes). -
