OVERALL: Draw
Between the R2 'Kinowelt' and 'Universal' releases (except the French release) for anamorphic transfer and additional extras such as the commentary track. Do note that the UK releases are heavily cut. The Japanese release has superior audio with a full-bitrate DTS track and uncut status, but loses almost all the extras. The choice is yours as to what is more important.
Whatever choice you do make, make sure to avoid the early European Pioneer releases.
