The only known release of the theatrical cut is the R2 UK.
R1, R2 France, Germany & Spain for offering the original aspect ratio, a DD5.1 soundtrack and a few extras.
Two versions exist:
(1.) The theatrical cut (96 minutes NTSC = 92 minutes PAL)
(2.) The director's cut (100 minutes NTSC = 96 minutes PAL)
The differences:
1. The life raft fight is much longer, with more punching and someone being stabbed in the back with a large knife, then the two men fall overboard. After the shark visits, one tries to get back onboard the liferaft. The hero beats him off with an oar.
2. The death of Marlon Brando's "Father" character is longer by about 0:29. A shoulder bite is missing when the attack beings, and the feeding frenzy lasts longer, culminating with a hand being torn from his arm (off screen), held aloft then thrown away. When the hero shoots at the creatues soon after, a shot of the bloody hammock is missing.
2. One creature has his pain controller bitten out of his chest. This largely happens off-screen, but the whole sequence, which includes more dialogue, last for about 1:30 NTSC.
3. When Val Kilmer is killed, two shots are missing: one that shows the bullet wound on his chest (in the same spot where the pain controller implant normally goes), and a medium shot of his chair falling back. Other creatures then empty the gun clip into his corpse, after which one declares, "Now we are men."
4. When another creature is killed with a machine gun, a brief shot of bullets striking his chest is missing, so there are only two shots instead of three -
