Packaging claims R1 but it played on a R2 locked player.
Sadly, this 2-disc release seems to have been replaced with the older single disc Chinese Box, letterboxed release; the barcode for this 2-disc set brings the 1998 release.
The extras on Chinese Box have optional English and Spanish subtitles but they have to be activated by the remote.
