OVERALL: R0
The Scandinavian Limited Edition release includes both versions of the movie and the best selection of extras. Do note that the R1 includes an isolated score.
GENERAL NOTE:
The Universal R2/4 releases have had the credits cut off for the making of documentary.
This film exists in two versions:
(1.) The director's cut which was the first version prepared by Spielberg. It tested badly so the studio insisted on it being cut down for release. However, it was shown on television and on home video formats (146 minutes NTSC = 140 minutes PAL)
(2.) Theatrical cut (119 minutes NTSC = 114 minutes PAL). -
CUTS:
- R0 Limited Army Box Edition Scandinavia- Future Film / Universal Pictures - No cuts - Includes both the director's cut (145:18 NTSC > PAL) and theatrical version (114:08 PAL)
- R1 Collector's Edition America- Universal Pictures - No cuts - Director's cut (145:18 NTSC)
- R2 Special Edition Holland- Universal Pictures - No cuts - Theatrical version (114:09 PAL)
- R2 Scandinavia- Future Film / Atlantic Film / Pan Vision - No cuts - Includes both the director's cut (145:18 NTSC > PAL) and theatrical version (114:08 PAL)
- R2 Special Edition United Kingdom- Universal Pictures - No cuts - Theatrical version (114:09 PAL)
- R4 Special Edition Australia- Universal Pictures - No cuts - Theatrical version (114:09 PAL)
