GENERAL NOTES:
The film was simultaneously photographed with two cameras to create an "A negative" for the domestic German market and a "B negative" for export; both differ in terms of composition and content.
Both negatives are now lost. The German version comes from a 1930 German print held by the Museum of Modern Art. Its original German intertitles had been replaced with English ones but were reinserted for the Murnau-Stiftung restoration. The export version comes from a print held by the Bundesarchiv. -
