R1 Tokyo Pop/FUNimation original releases feature minor additional extras (outtakes) and 2 versions of the Second Stage episodes: Uncut Classic versions with Japanese audio and Tricked-Out "Americanized" versions with English audio.
R1 FUNimation/R4 Re-Releases feature only the uncut Classic versions of the episodes but offer them with both Japanese and newly recorded English audio.
There is an unreleased BATTLE STAGE (#1): in addition to being an OVA collection of races from the previous stages, it also contains unique footage of an unscreened race (Keisuke’s FD35 vs Seiji’s Evo IV, between 29:55-31:40 from a 52:24 episode). This segment fits in the Second Stage timeline between episodes 6 & 7 (aka Goodbye Eighty-Six and Battle at Akagi! The Black and White Flash!)"
ADDITIONAL NOTES ON PRE-2011 RELEASES
- They lose the first episode of Second Stage (ep. #27) which is available as a bonus episode on First Stage releases.
