Synapse has the most extras as well as two versions of the film and English subtitles (the limited edition has a tribute CD while the standard edition features both Blu-ray discs from the limited edition). Do note that the Austrain and Spanish editions have exclusiv extras.
A two-disc standard edition of the Synapse package - dropping the CD, steelbook packaging, and paper extras - will be coming out in October 2023 (no Amazon link available yet).
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in a number of versions:
- the original Spanish domestic cut;
- the longer integral assembly featuring scenes never dubbed into English and scenes of violence and nudity intended for export (~102 minutes);
- the export version which moved the flashback to the start of the film and featuring scenes of violence and nudity not included in the Spanish cut (~97 minutes);
- and various US theatrical, TV, and video cuts including the shortest English version (~83 minutes) - the title of latter was shortened to "The Blind Dead" from "Tombs of the Blind Dead" as it appears on other English versions - as well as a more complete VHS edition that trimmed much of the train massacre (which was shown intact but darkened on Elvira's Movie Macabre).
A comparison between the integral assembly and the shorter US version is available on Schnittberichte.
A comparison between the original Spanish version and the even shorter German FSK16 version is also available on Schnittberichte.
A comparison between the US and Spanish Version is available on Movie Censorship.
