OVERALL: R1
the Artisan SE has an anamorphic widescreen transfer, DD5.1 audio and two audio commentaries, which ought to make it the clear winner. However, the Artisan's transfer quality has received mixed reviews, some praising it as a major improvement on the older Live Entertainment edition (e.g. see http://www.dvdauthority.com//Reviews.asp?ReviewID=3601), others stating that it falls well short of the Live Entertainment's transfer quality (e.g. see http://207.136.67.23/film/DVDCompare2/ongoldenpond.htm)
Up to you. Just avoid the R2 Carlton edition.
