OVERALL: Draw
The Australian disc is the only English-friendly option for the uncut international version but be aware that it's a panned and scanned version.
The French disc is uncut, in anamorphic widescreen in the correct ratio but is dubbed into French (the proper language is English despite the film being a UK-France co-production).
The US disc has good image quality, is in the original aspect ratio, has some extras but is the severely cut version with Michael Lonsdale badly dubbed.
There are two versions of this film:
(1.) The original, uncut international theatrical cut; Michael Lonsdale has his real voice (98 minutes NTSC = 94 minutes PAL).
(2.) US theatrical version. This Bryanston edit is butchered; has scenes reordered, much footage cut and Michael Lonsdale is dubbed (84 minutes NTSC = 81 minutes PAL). -
CUTS:
- R0 Australia- RBC Entertainment - No cuts - International theatrical cut (92:45 PAL)
- R1 America- Scorpion Releasing - Yes - US theatrical cut (84:11 NTSC)
- R2 France- Panoceanic Films - No cuts - International theatrical cut (92:45 PAL)
