OVERALL: Draw
The US limited/standard and UK limited editions are identical in terms of video and audio specs. Do note that the US limited edition has two more postcards among otherwise identical paper extras.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in three primary versions:
- the Italian cut (~116 minutes);
- the International Version (~111 minutes);
- the U.S. version (~83 minutes) which is not just a cut-down version of the international version but makes use of outtakes and alternate footage not to soften the violence but to smooth over the extensive editing.
The film was mixed down to mono for the U.S. theatrical release - in spite of the Dolby Stereo logo that remains in the end credits - but Synapse Films discovered when accessing Warner Bros.' New Line Cinema holdings - in order to patch up some SD inserted material in their older master of the Italian version used for their 1080p Blu-ray edition - that the effects were mixed down to mono but the music was still in matrixed stereo (hence the inclusion of the "stereo" track as an option for the U.S. version on Synapse's Blu-ray and the Synapse/Arrow UHD editions). -
