OVERALL: Draw
R1 has "Deleted scenes" not on the UK R2, which instead has additional (censored) documentary and a DTS audio track.
General Note:
"For sake of clarity, there is only ONE version of the Toolbox Murders. The original cut, or should I say, director's cut, was submitted to the MPAA for an R rating. After they viewed the picture, it was given a more stringent NC-17 rating due to extreme gore (see the bonus material on the DVD as these were the actual versions from the Director's Cut.) We then had to recut scenes to obtain an R Rating.
Because Toolbox was an extremely budget challenged film, the producers were not willing to preserve the NC-17 version to release as the "Director's Cut" so only the R version, which is what was screened theatrically as well as what you have on the DVD, is the only version in existence
Andrew Cohen, A.C.E.
Editor, Toolbox Murders" -
