OVERALL: Draw
All the releases appear to contain unique extras, but only the R1 BBC release, the R1 Fox re-release (under the title "Wallace and Gromit: Three Amazing Adventures"), the R1 Lionsgate/Alliance release, and the R2 UK SE release from the BBC come with commentary.
Do note, however, that these three releases suffer the worst amount of music altering/edits. Only the 1999 R1 Fox release contains the original music. Also note, the R1 releases have low-pitched audio except for the BBC release which unfortunately is a PAL-NTSC transfer and the 5.1 track on the Shout! release(s), although the Aardman fanfare in high-pitched (the 2.0 stereo track has the dialogue in the correct pitch, but the music and sound effects still low).
General Notes:
The original BBC UK broadcast: Gromit's Birthday card plays the song "Happy Birthday". Later when the Penguin is playing organ music from Gromit's radio, two of the songs are "Happy Talk" and "How Much is that Doggy in the Window?" The music for these however can still be heard underneath the audio commentary on the R1 BBC and R2 SE releases. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- Lionsgate Home Entertainment - No censor cuts. However, Gromit's birthday card plays "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" instead of "Happy Birthday" and the organ music renditions for "Happy Talk" and "How Much Is That Doggy in The Window?" have been replaced with generic music. Also, Wallace's humming of the latter song has been removed (30:03 NTSC).
- R1 The Incredible Adventures of Wallace & Gromit America- BBC - No censor cuts. However, Gromit's birthday card plays "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" instead of "Happy Birthday" and the organ music renditions for "Happy Talk" and "How Much Is That Doggy in The Window?" have been replaced with generic music. Also, Wallace's humming of the latter song has been removed (28:51 NTSC).
- R1 Wallace & Gromit in Three Amazing Adventures America- Dreamworks Home Entertainment - No censor cuts. However, Gromit's birthday card plays "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" instead of "Happy Birthday" and the organ music renditions for "Happy Talk" and "How Much Is That Doggy in The Window?" have been replaced with generic music. Also, Wallace's humming of the latter song has been removed (31:01 NTSC).
-
R1 Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Cracking Collection America- Shout! Studios - No censor cuts (30:14 NTSC). However, some music has been changed in "The Wrong Trousers" on all soundtracks:
– Gromit's Birthday card incorrectly plays "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow"
– "How Much is that Doggy in the Window?" has been replaced and Wallace's humming of that song has been removed.
- The "Open University" theme on Gromit's TV when he's eating his cereal is replaced by generic music. - R1 Wallace & Gromit: The First Three Adventures America- Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment - No cuts. On "The Wrong Trousers", Gromit's Birthday card correctly plays "Happy Birthday" and the organ music of "Happy Talk" and "How Much is That Doggy in The Window" on the radio is intact (30:21 NTSC).
- R1 Wallace & Gromit: Three Amazing Adventures America- Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment - No censor cuts.
- R1 Canada- Alliance Films - No censor cuts.
