OVERALL: Draw
Eureka US/Canada/UK for being English-friendly and including extras.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in at least two versions:
- the original German version (~90 minutes at 24fps/~87 minutes at 25fps);
- the U.S. version (~80 minutes at 24fps/~77 minutes at 25fps) which cuts an eight-and-a-half minute sequence featuring a meeting following the theft of a princess' necklace and Major Tern (Peter Van Eyck) visiting Professor Masterson and meeting his daughter (Sabine Bethmann). We have no idea if this represents the export cut of the film (others in the series have been identical in length to the German versions) or trims imposed by distributor Walter Manley Enterprises; if the latter, it appears as though rights owner CCC and Eureka were unable to source a complete English track. -
