OVERALL: Draw
Both the Dutch, German X-Rated and UK Dark Side releases contain anamorphic presentations of the film, but please note that neither the UK and German releases contain a 'true' anamorphic transfer but have simply been processed through an aspect ratio converter. On the other hand, the Dutch disc contains a 'true' anamorphic transfer.
The UK release contains a good range of extras - note, however, that it is cropped slightly and the credits, while contemporary, are tacked-on oddly after the end of the film.
So for the 'true' anamorphic transfer, the Dutch release would seem to be the best, whereas the UK Dark Side release contains the best range of extras. The choice is yours.
More explicit scenes were filmed for a potential harder cut which never materialised. Evidence for this can be seen still in the Theatrical Trailer. (Please note that UK releases contain a cut version of this trailer, with edits made to appease the BBFC.) The Blu-ray release includes these scenes in the extras.
There is apparently also a heavily cut German DVD on the market, with a classification lower than FSK-18. If you have the full specs for this release, please let us know via the forums. -
