The R2 French release has an anamorphic transfer, 5.1 sound and some additional extra features. Please note however, that it also contains FORCED French subtitles and is in no way English friendly.
If you need an English-friendly release, go for either Korean release or the R2 UK as they have anamorphic transfers.
