OVERALL: Draw
R1 MPI, and R2 Optimum releases are restored by MPI (this time not UCLA), and those are the ones to get.
The R1 is available separately, or in a box set containing all 14 films in the series (12 from "Universal Pictures" & 2 from "Twentieth Century Fox"). The R2 is only available in the 14-film box set. The R1 releases have English subtitles, which might come in handy with older films like these.
So: Choice is yours.
Note, that there are several budget releases also, e.g. by "Blackhorse Entertainment" (UK - Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Collection), "Orbit Media Ltd" (UK), "Bfs Entertainment & Multimedia" (US), "Delta Entertainment" (US), "Focus Film Entertainment" (US), "Force Video" (Australia) etc etc, but basically avoid them all. -
CUTS:
- R1 America- MPI Home Video - No cuts
- R2 The Definitive Collection United Kingdom- Optimum Releasing - No cuts
