The R1 re-release from Redemption Films in the USA contains an anamorphic transfer that doesn't have the framing issues of the Encore release. However, it's an interlaced transfer. Whilst this release ports over most of the extra features of the Dutch release, it drops a few features, including the 24 min interview with Rollin and the 13 min interview with his son Serge.
The 3-disc Dutch -release contains an anamorphic transfer and bountiful extras but suffers from some minor "framing issues" (for more info, please see the review and the link) though.
So the Redemption Films re-release contains the best presentation of the film, whilst the Encore disc contains the best selection of extra features.
GENERAL NOTES:
The film exists in two versions:
- the original version (~87 mins)
- the hardcore version “Suce moi vampire” (~74 mins) with hardcore inserts featuring the photographer’s models and new wraparound footage with the lead Jean-Loup Phillippe. This footage was shot by director Jean Rollin as a concession to the producers. -
