OVERALL: R2
The French edition has two versions of the movie, optional French subtitles and several extras, most of which are in French only.
Do note that all three R0 releases as well as the Scandinavian edition have extras not found on the French disc (a featurette, an alternate TV opening and an interview), and that R0 by Image has a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack.
The following versions of the film are known:
- The original Theatrical version,
- A re-edited, presumably "unauthorized" version released in 1984 and omitting the pinscreens prologue.
There are currently many unexplained discrepancies in the running times of the original Theatrical versions offered on the various discs. -
CUTS:
- R0 America- Image Entertainment - No cuts (119:28 NTSC).
- R0 America- Universal Pictures - No cuts (120:08 NTSC).
- R0 Australia- The AV Channel/Masman Entertainment - No cuts (119:15 PAL).
- R2 France- Studio Canal - No cuts - contains both the original Theatrical (113:59 PAL) and the re-edited (107:25 PAL) versions.
- R2 Scandinavia- Sandrew Metronome/Studio Canal/Universal Pictures - No cuts - Re-edited version (107:45 PAL).
- R2 United Kingdom- Warner Home Video - No cuts (110:24 PAL).
