Encouraged by the recent Police Story II comparison, which has come in very handy. I thought I'd post this lot of images. The first series is mainly to point out the picture quality of each release (the ones I can review), and the second lot is to detail cropping (Which will be a second post to seperate them).
Picture Quality
Anchor Bay Entertainment: Region 0 LE
First International Productions: Region 2
Marketing Film: Region 2
Laser Paradise: Peter Jackson Collection
A Film Home Entertainment: Region 2
Scanbox: Region 2
Universal Studios: Region 4 CE
Picture Quality: Universal Studios Region 4, has the worst picture of the lot, its soft, almost to the point that its blurry, and has major issues with changing frames. As you can see Barry is still clearly visable after the frame has changed. Direct conversion of the Anchor Bay NTSC print? Most likely.

Cropping Picture: First International Productions: Region 2 obviously shows the most amount of picture, wether it be considered 'open matte' is up for debate in my personal opinion, as the character of 'Whitey's head can clearly be seen tossing backwards and forwards in the film after Barry has shot his head off, encouraging me to believe it was ment to be seen, so 4:3 could have been the original aspect ratio. If you are after widescreen, no doubt that the Anchor Bay Entertainment release is the one for you, but you do lose out on a fair amount of picture.
