Backtrace (First viewing) – 5.5/10
Mac (Matthew Modine), an amnesiac robber and lone survivor of a $20 million bank heist escapes from a prison psychiatric ward with the help of a mysterious inmate (Ryan Guzman) and two other accomplices to search for the stolen cash that he stashed away in an abandoned factory before his capture. Under the dangerous side effects of an experimental serum injected into the back of his head to recover his lost memories, Mac – and his crew - must get to the money and evade capture by an aging local cop (Sylvester Stallone) and the FBI who are hot on his trail as well.
Ryan Guzman and Sylvester Stallone, despite getting top billing, only play supporting cast. Stallone's screen time is limited to roughly 20 minutes while the main star is actually Matthew Modine.
Mildly entertaining, cheap, VOD crime thriller with little suspense and action. Only for the most die-hard fans of Stallone.
