Balto: The Complete Collection (Denmark Import) Blu-ray ADDED

Post by Paul_Rudoff »

I just picked up this Complete Collection Blu-ray of the 3 Balto movies that was released in Denmark by Excalibur Media International (EMI). Since there is no details info for it anywhere online, I had to due my duty and provide it before I return the set (because I can't stand burnt-in subtitles).

The audio and subtitle specs for all three films are 100% the same.

It mistakenly says Region B on the back of the case, but all 3 discs play fine in my Region A-locked PlayStation 3.

The back of the case it says "4:3", though only the second and third films are in a 4:3 aspect ratio. The first film is in 1.78:1.

There are no subtitles. There is no scene selection menu, though each film does have chapters. There are no extras for any of the films.

There are burnt-in foreign subtitle translations of all on-screen text (except credits).

* Online Listings:
Denmark: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Balto-1- ... ay/298792/
Finland: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Balto-Th ... ay/303737/
(both of the above seem to be the same item)
Walmart: https://www.walmart.com/ip/-/2349378530

I sure these are the same three discs that EMI released individually:

The "Based on a True Story" text at the end of Balto #1 was entire REPLACED with the foreign translation "BASERET PA VIRKELIGE HAENDELSER". There may be more, as I only gave the movie a quick fast forward through.

- The main menu is just five flags, each of which chooses the audio language. From top to bottom: German, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish, and English.
- There are burnt-in foreign subtitle translations of all on-screen text (except credits). At 1:20, under the movie's subtitle "Wings of Change" is the foreign translation "DEN STORE FORANDRING". The foreign translation for "THE END!" at the end is "SLUT!", which seem inappropriate for a kids movie :-) There may be more, as I only gave the movie a quick fast forward through.

That is all.

Does the player acknowledge a subtitle track on the info/player?

Burnt-in suggests that the subtitles are part of the video. Forced subtitles are when you have a subtitle track, but can't turn them off, on, or switch around.
Main Player:Oppo UDP-203 Regional Player:LG BH200 TV:P75QX-H1
Doesn't associate with Commicrats or pedos of Bluesky.

Yes, I know what burnt-in subtitles are. That's why I wrote "burnt-in subtitles" because they are part of the video. There are NO subtitle tracks, forced or otherwise.

In the first movie, the "Based on a True Story" text at the end is entirely REPLACED with the foreign language translation. That is not possible to do with a subtitle track. It was replaced in the video itself.
