CUT DIALOGUE!!! dont throw out your VHS versions!!! Im gutted! so much for state of the art, sure the picture is great, but the freakin movie is cut! Mods, might pay to add this detail to the comparison! Cheers moldovia for bringing this to our attention!

Just checked the Blu-ray version, and the dialogue you mention is not in that either. This doesn't mean the film has been cut however, just a different version?

This website states that the dialogue missing, and other alternate scenes were added to a television version...

Checkout 'RW lost version' on the left, and 'Film/Video - Mad Max 2'

It says additional scenes where added to pad out the cut violence and bad language for television broadcast in Australia. Hunter says the '87 U.K VHS version doesn't have the MPAA cuts - maybe they added that additional dialogue to pad it out?

If you look on the 'Mad Max2 dvd' section, it says the Australian 1982 VHS release contains the MPAA cuts, but no additional/alternate scenes. Also the standard dvd releases do not contain the cut violence or any additional/alternate scenes.

The different versions (feel free to add to this list ) -

1 Theatrical release versions:
Australian M-rated/U.S R-rated - Two shots of violence cut. No additional dialogue. Standard Dvd

2 International theatrical release versions (Ie: The U.K cinema, and early VHS releases):
Australian R-rated/U.S unrated - contains the cut violence. No additional dialogue. HD-Dvd/Blu-ray. Japan Region 2 Dvd - first release

3 Australian T.V version - cut violence, and language. Contains alternate and additional scenes, and dialogue.

4 German release version - various cuts to violence throughout (possibly similar to the Aussie T.V) - no additional/alternate scenes.

5 Hunter's U.K '87 VHS version - The theatrical release version, but with some additional dialogue.

6 HamishT's VHS version - International theatrical release version, with additional dialogue.

7 The American version uses the alternate title of 'The Road Warrior', rather than the original title of 'Mad Max 2'.

8 Many VHS releases are a cropped pan & scan version.

Which is the director's cut of the film though? The 'widescreen international theatrical release version' perhaps?
